Welcome to the new Derek Frampton DOT com site!
I'll be rebuilding this place from scratch the next few weeks.
Cheers!

so far, so good. I've got the site working the way I want it to, and I've got the studio and my Pearl A2E eKit almost finished.

I ordered a Drum Dial, so I could get the heads properly tensioned for maximum trigger performance and accuracy.
once I get that in the mail in the next couple days , I'll go ahead and plug everything in, run cable management,
get the heads and triggers in optimum condition and record the first "test" video.

More soon.

Cable management is done. Looks GREAT! I'll post pics on the front page soon.

Unfortunately I plugged in the wrong power cable so the one for my module is toast.
I do have a new one coming soon within the next few days so hopefully the DTX700 module still works..
If It doesn't' it's about a $600-$700 mistake  >:(

For now, I'm just playing "hurry up and wait"

...so the module is fine.. I'm just finding out quickly that Yamaha DTX modules suck for DIY, A2E conversion projects,
and as good as the sounds are and the features are, the proprietary/system/wiring Yamaha uses kills the conversion.

I'm switching to Roland. I also found out that Yamaha stuff is expensive to buy, and doesn't hold its resale value for shit.

I'm taking about a 65%-75% loss and hoping to take whatever I can scrounge up and buy cheapie pintech cymbals, and a very old
roland module just for MIDI so I can use Toontrack 3.0

Lots of problems and hurdles in the last 8 months of this A2E conversion.
Stay tuned, I'm sure I'll get to recording videos eventually.

Yamaha DTX modules SUCK for DIY A2E because they're not compatible with anything else other than Yamaha products

selling the Yamaha stuff to switch over to Roland, which I should have done in the first place.

***UPDATE***

I now have a Roland TD-20 In B-grade shape, took it apart to fix screen connection issues and fixed it 95%.
I also have a new pair of Hi-Hats from Pintech... gonna try that for a while, also new cymbals on the way.

I'm really crunching to afford a few other things I need, worth around $500 that are physically
needed for the drums, such as new clamps for the rack to mount the toms, a couple cymbal arms,
reinforcing feet and collars for the back of the rack, and a longer/wider front bar.

If you're reading this PLEASE help out if you can. paypal@derekframpton.com is my paypal email you could send money to family and friends to. Thank you for your possible future support!
I hope to somehow get this cash-flow so I can start playing and enjoying the drums I got almost 6 months ago.

Cheers!
