Chapter 5 Walkthrough
Following the events of Chapter 4, it's now time to defeat the final boss in Alone in the Dark. This Chapter 5 Walkthrough guide provides everything you need to know about unlocking all endings, and defeating the final boss, including helpful hints to make the final fight easier.
Alone in the Dark Secret Endings
Please note that the following walkthrough will only provide the standard ending that is achievable with both Emily and Edward. However, secret endings can be unlocked once you have collected and completed the necessary Lagniappe Sets.

As we have previously mentioned, we recommend creating a manual save point at the beginning of this chapter. This will come in handy for achieving the different endings.
Chapter 5 Walkthrough
Following your fight with Jacob in Greenland, you'll awaken back in the Conservatory, thanks to the help of the Batiste and Lottie. Here, you'll have the opportunity to have three optional conversations each with Jeremy and Dr. Gray, Ruth, Mags, Batiste, Lottie, MacCarfey, and Grace.
Once you're ready to continue, interact with the fountain and wait for either Emily or Detective Carnby.
After some time has passed, a cutscene will begin, and you'll have the chance to witness the ritual unfold.
After the cutscene, collect any ammo, health, and melee weapons from the area and then continue up the path to the roof, which is found behind the old bench chair.
On the roof, continue down the hole, collecting more ammo along the way if needed, until you reach the Mezzanine, where you'll need to defeat the Black Goat of the Woods before she can destroy the city.
Defeating The Black Goat of the Woods
Starting out, you'll need to avoid the Black Goat of the Wood's tentacle slam attack, which is indicated by her stopping and her tentacles being raised in the air.
To damage her, you'll need to fire on the small ulcers that appear on her head. Dealing enough damage to these will see her eventually collapse, causing you to fall to the ground below as the balcony comes crashing down.
Once you're on the ground, the fight will play out quite the same. But now you'll also need to avoid the Black Goat's stomp attack, which is indicated by her rising into the air on her back legs. To avoid her attacks, simply circle the room and dodge out of the way just before they land.
Now, to deal damage, you'll need to attack the ulcers that will now appear all over her body.
Several times throughout the fight, after targeting her ulcers, she'll collapse to the ground, and several monsters—each type you have encountered throughout the game—will begin to crawl out of her body.
Defeat those, and then continue targeting the ulcers until she is defeated and the final cutscene plays.
Congratulations, you've completed Alone in the Dark, and the credits will now roll.
